Our House is On Fire! gathers students' perspectives from across the University of Wisconsin System on the current global climate crisis.
Curator's statement:
This exhibition hurts.
I am impressed with the seriousness, the forlorn, and the yearning presented in the artwork. In many instances, this exhibition is not pleasant to view. But there is a necessary cathartic discomfort that comes with the reckoning of climate anxiety. It is comforting to know that all of these artists have shared feelings associated with the climate crisis (however uncomfortable those feelings might be).
The climate crisis is an existential reality and an inevitable factor in our futures.
There is a lot of important work that needs to be done in order to create a sustainable and healthy future for ourselves.
It will take all of us.
It won't be easy, but I believe we can do it.
Wear a damn mask and VOTE!
